About the Course

Fortnite is one of the most played video games in history with 2 million daily active players. It maintains its popularity by enabling creators to make their own worlds and skins to share (and sell) to the community.

Epic Games, the creators of Fortnite, recently released its Unreal Engine Fortnite (UEFN) platform; a way for creators to directly edit and create worlds on the Game Engine Fortnite is built on. ​

 

This course will cover fundamentals of game design, programming, and marketing to help students start fulfilling careers in the gaming and media industry. 

Our instructors are certified by Epic Games/Unreal Engine (creators of Fortnite).

Week 01

Intellectual Property Basics

Learn about how to craft game experiences, how to pitch ideas, and product management foundations. Assignments include market research, pitch deck, and pitching to your class. 

Week 02

Visual Development

Learn how to create a cohesive brand and visual language unique to your game/experience. Assignments include concept pieces and brand guidelines. 

Week 03

Modeling and Texturing

Learn how to create basic 3D models. Assignments include a textured 3D model and importing into UEFN. 

Week 04

Intro to UEFN

Learn the fundamentals of the UEFN creation platform. 

Week 05

Programming in Verse

Learn the fundamentals of programming and how to utilize AI helpers. Assignments include your first scripted program. 

Week 06

Proof of Concept (Alpha)

Start to use everything you learned to make an Alpha version of your experience. 

Week 07

Beta Testing and User Feedback

Gather user feedback on your experience and refine your experience to a Beta Phase. 

Week 08

Publishing and Marketing

Publish your experience into the Fortnite marketplace. Learn about the monetization system and marketing fundamentals.
